Chaps,
I am in the process of converting to digital and need a couple of pointers.
I don't want to spend a fortune.
My current set-up consist of Numark CDN88s.
I've done a little research..
The Numark DDS80 looks decent and is retailing just over £400 and could simply replace what I have without new flight cases etc?
Does anyone use a DDS80 and would they recommend? The pioneer seems a bit steep at nearly £1,300? Or Denon?
Would I need to buy software for the laptop as well as the DDS80? Also would I need a sound card for the laptop, if so could anyone recommend?
Thanks

How do you rate the software/interface/control of the DDS80 and do you think the MEP is leagues appart?

I've got a D2 Director which preceded the DDS80.
It does what it says on the tin.
If you're happy working with the screen size, then it's a good self contained solution.
You won't need a laptop to run it, but you will need to use the supplied database
software to scan all your songs so that you can search for things quickly and easily.
The sound is also built in and doesn't involve a laptop.

How easy is it to set-up playlists? I have created several in iTunes will this need to be repeated on the DDS?

If I remember correctly (it's a while since I've used my D2) you can import playlists to the database software
and then copy them to the player.
It may even read them direct from an iPod (as long as it's one that can be read as a drive).
Why not grab the manual off the Numark web site and have a look?

There's loads of MEPs on the bay at the mo, starting at 99p. One ended up going for 500 the other day. Guys got hundred percent feedback, but it does/did seeem a bit to good to be true...

Had one briefly and it's a quality bit of kit.
From memory they're brand new and 24 hour auctions.

Sorry mate didn't see this
Still CD primarily, got a trusty 88 like yourself, have an OODJ too.
Just bought a new case from Swan last week for HC4500, 2500 and mixer, but struggling to get the 2500 working properly with keyboard etc.
May treat myself to Traktor and X1 controller soon.
