I have just elected to become a full time Wedding Entertainment Specialist and an article in the latest ProMobile magazine has introduced me to the site. It was recommended as having a lot of value and it worked as here I am. I have just reached a very tender age which you can probably guess when I tell you I have been DJing since 1973 when discos and night clubs were just being thought of. My first set of kit had to be custom built by a local electronic shop as the equipment industry we have today did not exist way back in the days when Pontious was a pilot!!. [religious anecdote needs thinking about].
I spent a long long time in the RAF which prevented me becoming established in any particular area but did get me a chance to DJ in places all over the UK and also in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Belize and the very occasional guest gig in the USA. They seemed to love the Scottish Brit accent in those days. It also got me radio presenting time with Hospital Radio in York, BFBS and a chance to double up with a local presenter on BBC Radio Peterborough, now BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
So here I am having been away from the RAF for a while, doing the odd birthday party and wedding to keep my hand in and now its all history as I attempt to carve a late career as a Wedding Entertainment Specialist. I am a people person and hope I should well so please wish me luck and your best wishes as it seems from what I've read you aren't such bad bunch of people to join in with.
I've attended a couple of Derek Pengelly's seminars which I would really recommend if you want to be professional in this profession and am reading loads of marketing material. My first wedding fair is this weekend and I'm excited about it but don't let on about that. Tips for this gratefully received!!
Finally I have a request for some advice on purchasing legal music so once I've worked out where to ask it I'll wait for all the help and information you guys can offer.
Regards and best wishes - Franck.

Hi Franck

Good introduction - don't forget the search facility which can help you to find stuff that's already been covered...
New threads are also welcome, so ask away (in the other MDJF areas) when you're ready!

Hi Franck. Good intro.
Alien 1: Did the Earthlings get our message?
Alien 2: Yes, but they called it 'dubstep' and they just skank about to it.

I wouldn't let you dj the grand opening of a port-a-loo and you get less gigs than my gran.

Easy peasy Jeff.
Fourth Drove is in an industrial estate and is a turn off from a major road called Fengate which leads out from the city centre. Hope the van is a good 'un and worth the ride from wherever your base is.
J&S vans stock is mainly clean tidy looking ex BT vans which my son in law came close to buying from recently. I have sniffed there myself and some of their prices seem pretty good.
They are on a corner with Fengate and Fourth drove and some of their stock can be seen as you approach along Fengate.

In ten days I'm moving to Yaxley - just outside Peterborough and 2 miles from the A1M / old Norman Cross roundabout... Fengate is OK, it's the other side of Peterborough that can be... variable in terms of quality!
