Been reading things around here for part of the day so far.... Looks like I'm one of the few US guys!

No worries though!

I do mobile DJ and MC work. From weddings to announcing at the NHRDA national sled pull here in Brainard MN, I'm not afraid to try about anything...
Been doing this off and on since about 95. I finally took it to a real business a year and a half ago.

I'm running Virtual DJ.
2 Crown XLS402 amps
2 JBL TR225 dual 15" woofer with horn.
2 Peavey 118 Subs. (they work for now.... looking for JBL's)
for smaller or portable type events I have Yamaha single 12" woofer with horns and pole mounts.
Neumark C3USB mixer
DBX Driverack
Neumark dual tray CD player
Radio Shack back-up mixer (ask me why... LOL) (also used for portable if need be)
Portable Crate amp
American DJ TP1201 lighting controller (for now till I can upgrade fully to DMX)
Elation Stage Setter 8 DMX controller
LSC DMX Dimmer pack

Lighting... 10" truss with crank stands
8 Par 38 Cans (have 4 more)
2 Irradiant Moonflower lights
2 LED Par 38's
1 American DJ Mega Pixel
Fog Machine
Strobe light

And I'm sure I'm forgetting something.... LOL

Things I'm looking to learn...

DMX stuff.... I think I have an ok grasp on it....but as simple as it is... it's very complicated!

What subscriptions do you guys have to get your digital music? I can't sing... but have quite a few Karaoke songs... I'd like to continue to get updates on this as well, in case I find someone that can sing... I think it's another avenue that I can make money with....

Projectors for video's, slide shows, etc....

Thanks guys!

Welcome :)

That's a properly 'american' looking set up youve got there!

Two stacks with twin driver midrange, goalposts with pars and gels and a table with a badly fitting cloth. That's what a lot of the yanks seem to be rocking, setup wise.

I say you take a bit of the British wedding style across the pond and blow your competioors away with some some suble high end class.
Alien 1: Did the Earthlings get our message?

Alien 2: Yes, but they called it 'dubstep' and they just skank about to it.

Im josh, thanks for the welcomes!

Christoph.... Ill fitting only because I can adapt to different table sizes.

Im currently building a steel framed, aluminum skinned, custom painted all in one cart. No more table when I get all done with that! It will have 3 pieces. th

The 2 upper will basically be similar to 2 SKB racks. The bottom will have a drawer for all my cables. Nice and simple, but easy to move. With a very clean look. Less lifting and fewer trips to haul from the van. Make it even better!

Christoph... I like the critisim, taken like I take it, is only constructive!

Good stuff mate

The only American setups I've ever seen are obviously from you tube and other forums so that might not be typical of what's actually out there.

From what I've seen though, they tend to have big sound and generally expensive source systems, pioneer CDjs etc... But the look of the whole thing is generally in the 'plonked on a table' category. Even at posh weddings.

I think if you get a pukka stand or booth and some neat lighting you could carve out a pretty decent niche.

Clean, neat, easy to set and take down. That's my goal.

The plonked on a table.... is my temporary solution. Your right that's how most folks, at least in my area function.

I want to set myself apart from those guys. Right now I want to get my name out and grow my business. I agree, this is one very good way to make that happen.

Right now I'm working on finding a way to set up some up-lighting or if I'm stuck with the table set up for a while (till I can get and afford all the materials to finish building my rig) I may use a white sheet and use 2 of my LED par cans to add an effect under the table. What do you guys think about that?

Best you can do for now is just get a neat black cloth I'd say. I'd make getting a good looking stand or booth your priority though.

If you are looking to make your own I'd post in the relevant section as we have a few members who have done that themesleve and built some very smart looking booth for next to no outlay.
