Evening all, my laptop has died on me mid-gig. Thankfully I have 3 back-ups so I'm OK and it's only a pub night.
I've been looking at the 00VJ lately and I'm now even more tempted to buy one, but theyre made to order arent they? Does anyone know approx how long this takes? Ive had a quick look on the site using my phone but cant see anything? I've got. Couple of gigs coming up soon that want Videos so I need something but dont really want to have to but a normal laptop just to do those gigs then get a 00VJ. I'll be ringing or calling in to see valeway in monday to find out more, but if anyone could give me an idea that would be great.
Thanks
Craig

Not anymore they don't, now the initial backlog is over the guys normally have prebuilt machines ready to be tweaked to the costumers spec on the shelf. If you order Monday I believe it could be delivered before the weekend. Had mine delivered in 3 days from ordering.

That's good to hear. How long have you had yours? All good so far?
I think i've managed to convince myself to buy one instead of buying a cheap (£4-500) laptop each year. They dont seem to like me lol.
I'm hoping to pop up to hull to have a play if they have a demo machine and buy one in the newt week or two

Had mine about a month now, I had the oodj before but the screen was too small and difficult to read without glasses which is why I upgraded. The screen res on the oovj is brilliant and I can now dj without glasses again. I must confess here that I am a big fan of valeway technology due to their after sales help and advice which I have made great use of over the years. I still have my original rack system they built for me when they first teamed up with pcdj as my backup system, it's just a shame the new generation software will not run on it without a very expensive upgrade.

Maybe I have got the wrong end of the stick here but is the 00vj a pc motherboard that is encased into the mobile enclosure? was looking into new laptops and solutions like oovj/dj as im considering getting a mac book pro.

The 00VJ is an engineering Motherboard (not a normal computer motherboard, or a laptop), in addition to usual PC components connected together in a specific way to allow for highest stability.
All this is encased in an alloy body, and includes a 17" 4:3 HD panel (1280x1024), touch screen, keyboard and touch mouse.
So you get stable components, High Quality audio Output, and a sturdy piece of equipment all in one.

Just to re-iterate, the motherboard is an industrial class board, designed for harsh environment use. Much more reliable than a consumer grade board. Despite this it's made to the IPX standard so it can be replaced with another model should the need arise. In fact we've designed the whole machine so any component is straight forward to replace or upgrade.
If you can come and try one at the PLASA show, Earls Court 12th to 15th September. We have some free tickets available, to request one email sales@pcdj.co.uk and we'll reply back.
We will also be attending the BPM show in October at the NEC - www.visitbpm.com
Thanks

You're right there, though I *have* seen motherboards die in the past including in one of my own PC's.
Some years ago now a very bad batch of capacitors were made which found their way into a lot of equipment including motherboards, those caps would fail after a few years usually rendering the equipment useless. Had a motherboard die on me in 2006 with that problem. Sometimes it's possible to replace the bad caps with new ones and rescue the kit, but most people can't be bothered.
If anyone is interested www.badcaps.net has all the info.
