I'm at a gig just now. After set up the people who run the hall mentioned that my equipment looks and sounds great. Its not something that I really notice but when I had a look I thought yeah it's does look and sound pretty good. I like to think I've been very lucky over the years and none of my equipment has ever broken down.
Out of the gear that I've had over the years I would say my best purchase of all must be my mackie srm450's. I've had them for around 6 years and they've never had a glitch. They still look great despite a few scuffs. Another great purchase is my abstract vrx gladiator scanners. Again not one problem and the light still looks amazing, think I got them around 6 years ago too.
What would you lot say was your best ever purchase or piece of kit?

CDN-88, just sold them, but they're a reliable beast. Gone for the MEP now cause of MP3 capabilities.

My EV amps, had them about 10 to 12 years now, and never a glitch, till one threw a wobbly a couple of weeks back.
I found out what caused it though, and it was my own bloody fault . . . . NEVER plug an amp into a socket that's run through a dimmer
Next best are my C Audio amps, about the same age, and only a couple of minor faults in that time.

My old crest V900 and V1500 amps, now 12 years old and on light duties, still got a nice Warm bass and have never gone wrong.

Like the Behringer DCX-2496. Great bit of kit and never had any issues. Liked my Denon DN-D9000 too. Sold it this year but had it from new and never skipped a beat.

Show off LOL. That reminds me, I've been using a dim 500 for years too. Not a glitch, sounds great and well worth the money. Bought it brand new about 8 years ago. Definitely take it for granted. I also still use cdn88's, at a gig using them now (buffet time), very reliable.

My bag full of weird and wonderful cables and connectors.
Lost count of how many times I've needed to do something weird and connect sonething to something that I don't normally do. The trusty bag has never let me down.
After that probaby my rmx. Djing has never been so easy.

My best buy would have to be ooooooooh this is a hard one... Erm I would say my subs. JBL 2226g clone drivers, cabs designed and built by myself. They amaze me night after night, week after week. They don't like upper bass which is strange for a 15" driver but give them some real sub frequencies and they think they're a 21" driver!
I've had people who are speaker nerds look/listen to these & you can see the expression on their faces "wow, no way are those doing all that..."

where to start
(origina) Look Unique Hazer,, amazing peice of kit, 5 years old, getting on for 6, still looks and works like new.
Ohm BR12 and TRS118 speakers, love em, sound great and are very tough, never had any problems, no blown drivers, nothing...
probably wont ever sell em, unless some Nexo's came along...
Lab Gruppen fp3400 amps,, these must be he ultimate amps ! so powerful, light weight, awesome bass, and sweet as anything mid and top,,and they come with a 10 year guarantee,,
Formula Sound FSM400, 19" Version, I love this mixer, so much so that when i saw a brand new one going for a bargain price recently, I bought it ! even though i didnt it,, so now i have two
again cant see me changing mixers, this mixer suits me 100%.
Mobiletech sptek4000 stands, they deserve a mention for being totally awesome !
Manfrotto Litec TX25 truss,, again, awesome product, lightweight and looks great.
I think also OTS AV deserves a mention for being pretty damn good, rock solid, lovely to use, good product, £200 was too cheap for what does ,,
(and I know that OTS AV isnt appreciated by everyone
)
ANd on the subject of software,,,I love Aimersoft Media Converter and Cyberlink Powerdirector,, both fantastic products,,use em all the time

Mine would probably have to be either the Wheel and Winch or my RocknRoller Multicart.
both make life so much easier.

I'm going to speak purely from a value for money point of view, when I started out many years ago I bought a pair of KAM twin CD players, they lasted for nearly ten years without skipping a beat, and I only changed them because I had money burning a hole in my pocket and wanted to go digital. I also have my sennheiser mic which somebody gave me as a present from day 1 and it still sounds great. My favourite bit of kit is my DH-HC4500 I would say.

If you want to talk about value for money, I bought 8 Geni Wildblaze's quite a few years back, apart from the odd lamp socket replacement, and regular cleaning and servicing, these must have earned me more money (vs costs) than any other items I have ever owned. Plus, they still regularly bring me £50 per weekend hire per pair (inc a t bar stand), and they are all out most weekends of the summer months here.

I should really add my collection of Acrobats to this list - can't see me ever getting rid of these.

It does make me smile when people post that they 'love' equipment. Just tools of the trade for me. The winches on the Ultimax make things a lot easier being a short bloke though.

My Roadie
Ok maybe I haven't bought him, but I have enough stories to 'Own' him lol.
Equipment wise it must be my Robe 250AT heads and the RGB Lasers..... and the Look Hazer. Oh and VDJ.
Hell, Jeff had a list so I'm putting my JBL VRX 932LA Mid Tops in as well.

I think the idea is not to list your entire rig. Lol
I was gonna say my awesome mixing skills, but I didn't buy them. They were a gift from a higher power.

Actually I agree with Jeff & Gilbz. Can't just have one "best piece of equipment..." I really love my main sound rig from source to speakers
sad'o me

My headphones. Use them everywhere, at every gig either with my own kit or someone elses. Senny HD25s. If I had to start all over again they would most likely be the only thing i would buy again, everything else would be different.

I don't want to list my full rig but I'd also put my led par cans in there too. The problems I've had with my older 300w cans are endless. This could start another thread - what would be you're worst or least value for money piece of equipment? I would say skytec speakers and amp. I bought a set of cd players and a case off a guy a few years ago to have as back up. He threw in a set of speakers and an amp both by skytec. I linked them into my pioneer mixer and put a tune on. They sounded terrible, I thought that I had maybe missed something on my mixer or the amp itself. It was just that the gear was crap. I sold them the week later.
