Tonight's Playlist

Well, after asking tonight's client for her playlist for the last 7 weeks it finally arrived today!

She also sent 3 CDs to me earlier in the week but with no ideas as to what they were for (I knew they were persian but not which songs!). As they were copies not originals there was no tracklisting, artist details etc and FreeDB didnt pick them up so I was in the dark!

It's an English/Iranian Wedding and they are doing a traditional Knife Dance before cutting the cake. It seems like great fun and they also want to have some Persian music played and english guests encouraged to join in. Problem is, the timings they are insisting on make it very difficult to get people as involved as I'd like. They want to do the Knife Dance/Cake Cutting/First Dance/Persian music all straight from the off, and are giving everyone 10 mins to arrive, get settled, get drinks, catch up on the day and then straight in. It also means that that difficult time before the buffet when a lot of people just dont dance has been extended. I've explained all this but hey, it isnt like I do this for a living lol!

But - really, really nice couple and it does sound like great fun. Bride has been on the phone to me this morning to explain how she wants her playlist (ALL must-plays!) to go. They are having their Civil Ceremony locally to them and then going to the Castle where they'll have an Iranian Marriage Ceremony followed by their Wedding Breakfast. They have invited me to the Iranian Ceremony which sounds great, but I just wont have time unfortunately.

Anyway - playlist is a bit long and a few very random choices but in all pretty workable

Whoops - A bit too enthusiastic there!

On Sunday I have a pretty awesome uplighting-only job lighting the inside of a Castle. I'm doing the Great Hall, up in the Gallery and several of the small naves. I also noticed a couple of small (well big, but small in the castle!) nook windows which are quite high up, and thought it would be fantastic to try and uplight the stonework in them too!

So today - I popped out to the DIY store and bought a triple ladder so I could get up to them. Problem was that they come in strange sizes (to me) in that they arent 3 times the size of the folded item lol. I thought the small one would be a little too short so I bought the medium one which is 2.8m closed and 6.9m extended. Just about managed to get it in the car, and it fits into the van with about a foot to spare too!

But err - I have NOWHERE in my house to put it! My ceilings are way too low to stand it up and I dont have a single room with 2.8m of clear space in it for storage! The only thing I can think of is to put it in the loft but that will be a pain and then a right pain to get out if needed!!

DUH!!!

The good news is that this xmas I'll be hanging LED Icicles off the guttering!

A small retaining clip that screws over a faceplate to retain a CAT5 plug in it socket.

They are held in place with the two screws that hold the faceplate itself in place and prevent the CAT5 plug from being removed.

Now, I have seen these in one of the many CPC catalogues but can I find them now when I really need to order a load... Yeah, No!

Has anyone seen them in a CPC mag or know where I can find a supply of these little critters before I give in and start getting some fabricated instead!

Anybody recommend good supplier of glow sticks

Hi guys

The charity that my wife works for are after 1000 6 inch glow sticks with lanyards to give away at a forthcoming event. I have had a little look online at some companies but the prices im finding are out of the charity's budget. Was just wondering whether anyone knows anywhere or anyone who may have some available.

The budget they have is £200 so hopefully someone may be able to help.

Thanks in advance

URGENT APPEAL: Radio Engineer Needed for Hospital Radio in High Wycombe

Hi all

Some of you maybe aware that I'm on the committee of W.H.B.A. - Hospital Radio for High Wycombe.

Now we have a major dilemma, we have an urgent need for a competant radio studio engineer as our existing one has no time for us anymore and we are desperate to make our relatively good quality station even better and also complete and wire up our second studio in Amersham.

We are using Myriad playout software and various other methods (CD, MiniDisc, Turntable and even cassette tapes and we need someone who knows what they are doing with our broadcast mixer!

So, if you know of anyone who could help us out, please call me on 01844 343113 urgently.

Thanks all!

I put this in the "chat" area as it is more of an appeal that work offered, but if it needs moving please do so...... thanks mods!

Hi All,

Ok I have about £200 to spend on a new camera. What would you recomend for general use and especially disco shots? My current one is pretty naff when it comes to uplighters and they look all fuzzy.

Thanks
